Here are the passionate professionals that will serve as your points of contact for Desert View Recovery.
Christopher has over 22 years’ experience in the addiction and mental health field. As a License Psychiatric Technician, he has worked at State and County programs, Forensic Psychiatric Hospitals, Grant Funded Programs, as well as local treatment facilities. Over the course of his career, he has worked as Admissions Director, Utilization Review Director and Executive Director for large and small facilities. Christopher’s experience and leadership focuses on management and delivery of healthcare services along with effective communication to successfully utilize resources to provide quality patient care.
Christopher’s passion for appropriate care centered in dignity for patients encompasses ensuring best care practices by caregivers and providers, patient education in order to empower self-advocacy and family education. Along with his extensive knowledge of in-patient treatment services and outpatient services such as PHP/IOP it gives him the ability to understand the continuum of care that is needed for successful treatment in today’s ever-expanding health care field.
Christopher holds a bachelor’s degree in health care administration from Grand Canyon University and is currently working on completing his master’s in health care administration. Christopher has completed course work as a Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor and is waiting to take his certification with the state. Christopher enjoys camping, working on cars and gadgets.
Dr. Christian Small is uniquely triple Board Certified in Psychiatry (ABPN), Addiction Medicine (ABAM), and Family Medicine (ABFM), as well as ASAM/CSAM Certified. Dr. Small is among a handful of doctors in the US who have completed additional training to acquire the skills necessary to treat full spectrum medical and psychiatric illness. His treatment philosophy is founded upon the idea of a mind-body connection, that true healing takes into account both the physical and emotional needs of our clients.
Dr. Small completed his residency training at the University of California San Diego (UCSD), where he currently holds the title of Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor. He acted as an addiction psychiatrist for the Veterans Administration in La Jolla prior to co-founding Bold Health Medical Group, an outpatient clinic specializing in personalized medical, psychiatric and addiction treatment in Encinitas.
